Body Of Lincoln Woman Found In A Vehicle

By News Apr 16, 2021 | 10:05 AM

Lincoln Police are investigating after the body of a woman was found in the back seat of a vehicle.  Officer Erin Spilker says just before 8 a.m. on Tuesday police were called to the 2700 block of S 10th on a person unresponsive in a red Chevy Malibu.  When officers arrived, they found a woman deceased in the back seat of the vehicle.

The woman has been identified as 40-year-old Karla Lewis of Lincoln.  Spilker says there was evidence to suggest that the vehicle had recently been involved in an accident.  The scene was processed for evidence, several interviews were conducted and investigators found no indication of foul play.  On April 14 an autopsy was conducted, however, a definitive cause of death will be determined following toxicology results.

On Thursday around 4:30 pm an officer patrolling the area located a tree in the area of 13th and Arapahoe that Lewis’ vehicle collided with.  Investigators processed the scene for evidence and canvassed the area and determined that the damage to the tree was consistent with the damage to Lewis’ vehicle.  This investigation is ongoing.
