For the second weekend in a row, Nebraska (15-6) split games Friday and Saturday before running away with a Sunday victory to take the series.

Hosting Maryland (10-12), the Huskers began the weekend with a 6-2 victory, thanks in large part to Cade Povich going 6.1 innings to improve to 3-1 on the year. Povich gave up two runs on four hits and three walks, striking out five.

Joe Acker led the Huskers at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three doubles and two runs scored. Freshman Bryce Matthews went 2-for-4 with a home run, while stealing two bases.

Saturday saw the Terrapins put on their own rally late. Nebraska led 6-5 after six innings, but Maryland added three in the seventh to pull away for the 10-7 win.

Hallmark was the only Husker to notch a multi-hit game, going 2-for-4 on the day.

In the rubber match, it was all Big Red. Nebraska took advantage of five runs in the third and another seven in the eighth for the dominating 14-3 win.

Shay Schanaman pitched 6.0 innings of three-run ball, giving up two hits while striking out 11.

At the plate, the Huskers wracked up 14 hits, led by Acker’s 3-for-5 day. Matthews continued his hot week with a 3-for-4 day, including a grand slam in the eighth inning. Cam Chick and Luke Roskam also notched multi-hit games.

The Huskers have now won 10-of-12 to stand alone on top of the Big Ten Conference. The next six games are on the road with series at Penn State and Michigan State the next two weekends.
