Had a “News Of The Weird” story on The Morning Show today and this one is really weird.
Apparently not only CATS cough up hairballs….looks like there’s a human with a hairball problem in The United Kingdom. Or she HAD a problem anyways. Doctors have fixed it though. Here’s the deal.
A 17-year-old girl in the UK was having fainting spells that left her with face bruises, and she also had been complaining of stomach and abdominal pain for months. After ruling out a head injury, Doctors did a CT scan and discovered a STRANGE MASS in her stomach. Turns out she had a HAIR BALL in her stomach and it turns out said hairball was OVER A FOOT LONG!!!! YIKES-O-MATIC!!!!!
It seems the teen suffers from a couple of different health conditions, one is Trichotillomania, which is characterized by the urge to pull out your own hair….AND she suffers from Trichophagia, which is the compulsive eating of the hair.
There is a happy ending, however, as after surgery the to remove the hairball, her doctors said she is on the road to recovery with dietary advice and seeing a therapist on a regular basis!
