A new study is showing that dogs can be trained to sniff out people who have Covid. People in white lab coats brought in a bunch of dogs. They tested each pooch with samples of sweat from a Covid patient versus other compounds and non Coivd items. After some training, the researchers say that the dogs had success rates between 76 and 100% in identifying the Covid sweat. The dogs did so well, that they, the dogs, did better than a lab test. A couple of samples of sweat were supposed to be negative according to human testing. But after the dogs kept saying, “Nuh –uh. Them’s infected.” The scientists retested the sweat and both came back positive.
It looks like they’re already using dogs to identify passengers that have Covid at the airport in Helsinki.
