Virtual Open House For Long Range Transportation Plan

By News Sep 22, 2020 | 1:41 PM

The public is invited to share ideas about the future of transportation in the community by participating in a virtual open house and an online survey.  The Lincoln-Lancaster County Planning Department is seeking input on the Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP), which provides the City and County with a blueprint for the region’s transportation system over the next 30 years. Those interested have until October 19 to provide comments at LRTPlincolnMPO.com.

The virtual open house provides information about the LRTP goals as well as transportation needs, issues, challenges, opportunities and trends. The five-minute survey asks for feedback about the draft goals, modes of transportation, opportunities and trends.

The Planning Department works with the community to update the LRTP every five years. The LRTP is developed in concert with the update of the Lincoln-Lancaster County Comprehensive Plan.  More information on the Comprehensive Plan is available at PlanForward2050.com.

Planning Director David Cary said public input at this stage will be used to begin developing the strategies and priorities which will guide the future transportation investments. The LRTP planning process will include additional public events through 2021. A final draft of the LRTP document is expected to go to the Lincoln Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) Officials Committee for approval in late 2021.
