When it comes to adult beverage mixers there’s rum and Coke, Jack and Coke, and even vodka and Coke. So why not Coke and Coke? Coca Cola is getting into the alcohol market. They’ve bought a hard seltzer company called Topo Chico. Why? Think of it this way. For the 15 -week period ending June 13th, hard seltzer products bought in grocery stores, liquor stores, and big box retailers quadrupled. They’re going to initially release it in Latin America. No word on what it’ll be flavored or when it’ll hit the U.S.
Fun fact: One of my coworkers is from South America. I asked what “Topo” means. He said they used that word to describe groundhogs. So, the name of the drink is pretty much Groundhog Boy. Yes, Coke wants you to enjoy a big swig of Groundhog Boy.
