You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to work for NASA. You can be a toilet scientist. NASA is offering $20,000 if you can design a better space toilet for astronauts on the moon. See, we want to go to the moon again by 2024, but the last time we did, the astronauts wore things that were basically giant diapers in their suits and the toilets were these bulky monstrosities. And that’s where you come in for the “Lunar Loo” contest. This is what they say they’re looking for: a toilet that will work for seven days on the surface of the moon as well as the transit time to and from. It must be functional in micro and lunar gravity. It also needs to work for both men and women. Apparently the previous versions somehow only worked for men. Ideas must be sent in by August 17. There’s also 10k for second place and 5k for 3rd place.
