A Lincoln man reports being beaten while he slept during an early morning robbery.

Officer Luke Bonkiewicz said Lincoln Fire and Rescue Crews transported a 35-year-old man to the hospital around 2:30 a.m Wednesday after they discovered him while investigating sounds of a struggle overheard coming from a nearby residence in the 1500 block of North 33rd Street.

“When we finally contacted him at the hospital, he said that he was sleeping in the basement of that particular residence and he woke up because someone was beating him,” said Bonkiewicz.

The victim says the suspect, an adult male, repeatedly struck him with some sort of blunt object while demanding money and the victim’s phone.

He told police after giving the suspect what he wanted, he left the residence, apparently before LFR crews arrived.

An investigation is ongoing.

The victim’s injuries were determined to be non-lifethreatening

Anyone with more information is encouraged to call police.
