Late Night Standoff Ends With Two Arrests

Lincoln Police arrest two after a late-night/ early-morning standoff.

Officer Erin Spilker says police were called to the intersection of 8th and G Streets around 10:30 p.m Tuesday after gunshots were heard coming from the area.

However, when they arrived, they were unable to locate the source of the shots.

Then, just after 11 p.m officers returned after a witness reported seeing three men on a nearby patio, one of whom was firing a gun into the air.

“The officers advised them to stop and show their hands,” said Spilker. “Two of the males fled into an apartment while the male holding the gun initially tried to conceal it, but then discard it before fleeing into the apartment.”

Around midnight, man exited the apartment and surrendered to police, but he was not determined to be involved in the shooting.

Then, at around 1:30 a.m Wednesday morning, the man witnessed firing the gun, 32-Ryan Taylor, surrendered.

Finally, at around 2:30 a.m, the owner of the gun, also believed to have fires shots, 32-year-old  Jonathan Jones surrendered.

Being convicted felons, both Jones and Taylor were arrested for possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and discharge of a firearm within city limits.
