Snickerdoodle Failure

Big cooking fail in my kitchen over the weekend. Every weekend I’ve made some sort of sweet treat. Probably out of boredom. My waistline didn’t need anything. Comfort food, I’m sure. Anyway, I decided to make snickerdoodle cookies. I found a decent recipe online that said “soft easy snickerdoodles” in minutes. It was a straight forward recipe and I mixed everything up. My husband, Rick rolled the dough into balls and I rolled them through the cinnamon sugar mixture. I used the bottom of a glass to flatten the dough on the cookie sheet. When they came out of the oven, they were small thick cookies. They didn’t taste that great either. As usual, Rick asked me if I’d followed the directions.  Yes, of course, I did. How dare he! I looked at the recipe one more time only to discover I’d left out a cube of butter. So, I put ½ cup of butter in the recipe instead of one cup. As a kid, I used to leave things out of recipes too. I must have gotten this trait from my paternal grandmother, who never followed a recipe – ever.
