Protect Your Produce

Food for thought. How do you store your produce items? According to Better Homes and Gardens, there is a proper way to store produce so you won’t waste it. They say tomatoes belong on the countertop. Cold storage will actually change their texture and cause them to lose flavor. Same goes for avocados, which won’t ripen in the refrigerator. Citrus fruits do better in the cold as will certain kinds of squashes. Mushrooms should definitely be kept in a brown bag inside the fridge otherwise they’ll go badly quickly. Lastly, onions, potatoes and bananas stay outside the frig. I did pretty good on this list. I don’t each squash, so that’s not a problem.  I do keep my mushrooms in the frig, but not in a brown bag. How’d you fair?
