Nebraska Gets Low Score On Providing Breakfast To Low Income Students

Nebraska continues to rank near the bottom nationally in the School Breakfast Scordcard Survey .

Nebraska Appleseed’s Eric Savaiano tells KLIN News that although Nebraska improved somewhat in the latest survey…it ranks 47th in providing students-in need with a nutritious breakfast at school.

Saviano says food insecurity is a reality in every community in Nebraska…and he says we can and must do a better job fighting hunger in our state.

In the School Breakfast Scorecard survey Nebraska ranks 47th in the percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price school breakfast who also participate in free or reduced-price lunch. Saviano says ther school breakfast program is one of our best tools to make sure our children are getting a nutritious meal to start their days strong.
