NWS Ups Snowfall Potential: UPDATED

The National Weather Service has updated the Winter Weather Advisory by upping the potential amount of snowfall in and around the Lincoln area.

The Winter Weather Advisory goes into effect at 6pm this evening (Friday) and continues until Noon Saturday.

Snow accumulations range from 2 to 7 inches with locally higher amounts possible across East Center and Southeast Nebraska in into Southwest Iowa.  The heaviest accumulations will be across Southeast Nebraska and Southwest Iowa.  The snow may start as a mix of rain and snow before changing to all snow.  A little freezing drizzle may mix in at times.

Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning commute. Local power outages are possible. North winds will increase later tonight and Saturday 10 to 20 mph. Temperatures should generally range from 27 to 33 degrees when the snow is falling.

Periods of snow will cause travel difficulties with snow covered roads and limited visibilities.  Drivers are urged to be cautious while driving.  The latest road condition for the State you are calling from can be obtained by calling 5 1 1
